No disappointment for QAS

The QAS came up against Logan FC United over the weekend in what became a demolition of a game for the QAS, smashing Logan with four goals within the first half of the game.

Round nine of the State League has proven a test of the toughest with the QAS youngsters coming out firing, but just weren’t able to go for the jugular and finish off the game without lapses in concentration.

Showing that hard training is what it takes, Josh McVey proved to be in brilliant form after kick starting the game and scoring the first and third goals for the QAS.

McVey sent a pile driver from the 20 metre mark straight into the goal keeper giving him no chance, as Tommy Oar came in with a clever header.

In spite of a situation which saw the QAS boys come up against a set of lacklustre opponents who gave far too much space for the boys to exploit - the QAS boys played some extremely competitive football.

With the first half nearly over, further goals came from Tyler Thurtell and Tommy Oar to give the QAS an indisputable 4-0 lead after just 30 minutes.

The QAS continued to dominate during the second half, however unfortunate lapses in concentration ensured Logan’s first points on the scoreboard, after a penalty shot was awarded and duly saved by Matt Acton.

Following on from their initial points score, Logan scored a goal in the 40th minute after a deflected kick was thrown their way.

A goal mid-way through the second half also brought Logan some more joy, but not for long as 14-year-old QAS debutants Bobby Russell and Elliot Ronto combined efforts to make a final score in the 90th minute.

Leaving the final score - QAS 5 and Logan 2

The QAS team played well, but just weren’t able to keep up the intensity for the entire duration of the game which is something they will be working on for future matches.
